Privacy Policy for the KeepSheets app

1. Controller

The controller within the meaning of the GDPR for the KeepSheets app is:

Constantin Falk
ConstantIT
Miersdorfer Chaussee 8
15738 Zeuthen, Germany
Phone: +49 160 96353175
Email: info@constantit.de

2. Principle: processing happens on your device only

KeepSheets is a document scanner. All processing (camera, edge detection, perspective correction, filters, text recognition, PDF creation) runs locally on your Android device. The app does not hold the internet permission and cannot send data to us or to third parties. As the provider, we therefore do not collect, store or receive personal data from your use of the app. There is no user account, no sign-in, no advertising and no analytics or tracking tools in the app.

3. Camera access

To scan, the app requests the Camera permission. The camera image is processed on your device only, to detect document edges and create captures. You can revoke the permission at any time in Android settings; importing from photos and files keeps working.

4. Data stored on your device

In the app library, KeepSheets stores the following in the app's private storage:

  • scans and imported images or PDF pages, and their editing state (crop, filter, rotation)
  • the recognized text of each page (for search, copying and searchable PDFs)
  • document names, folders, tags and a history of your shares and exports
  • your settings (for example default folder, flash, automatic capture)

This data leaves the app only when you share or save it yourself (see section 6). Android cloud backup is disabled for the app, so the data is not automatically backed up to a Google account. You delete documents in the app, or all data by uninstalling the app or using “Clear storage” in Android settings. Files you saved outside the app with “Share” or “Save as …” remain.

5. Text recognition and automatic orientation

For text recognition (OCR) and automatic page orientation, the app uses the Google ML Kit “Text Recognition” module. The recognition model is bundled in the app and works entirely on the device. Because the app has no internet access, images or recognized text are not transmitted to Google or to us.

6. Sharing, saving and importing

You trigger sharing and saving yourself. When sharing, the app hands a PDF or JPEG file to the app you choose (for example email or a messenger); with “Save as …” it stores the file at the location you choose. From that point, the privacy terms of the recipient or storage location apply. For importing, the app uses Android's photo and file pickers. It only gets access to files you select or share with KeepSheets; no general storage permission is requested.

7. Purchases and Pro

KeepSheets may offer a paid Pro upgrade as an in-app purchase (see the Terms of Use). The purchase is handled entirely by Google Play. We do not see or store payment details. To unlock Pro, the app asks Google Play whether your Google account has purchased it. Google is responsible for this check and for payment processing (Google Privacy Policy). The number of free scans used today is counted only locally on your device.

8. Distribution through Google Play

Installation and updates go through Google Play, where Google processes data under its own privacy policy. We receive no information about individual users from Google, only aggregated statistics and crash and performance reports (Android Vitals), if users agreed to share them in their device settings. We cannot identify individuals from them.

9. Age

KeepSheets is intended for users aged 13 and over.

10. Your rights

Where we process personal data about you, you have the right of access (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and objection (Art. 21). Because the app gives us no data about you, we generally cannot provide information about your scans: they exist only on your device and under your control. Please send requests to info@constantit.de.

11. Right to lodge a complaint

You have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority. The authority responsible for us is:

Die Landesbeauftragte für den Datenschutz und für das Recht auf Akteneinsicht Brandenburg
Stahnsdorfer Damm 77
14532 Kleinmachnow, Germany

12. This website

13. Changes and date

We will update this policy when the app or the law changes, for example when new features are introduced. The version published here applies. Last updated: 5 November 2026.
